# Gmail and Outlook

Your inbox is where Scout sees your deals, learns your voice, and puts its drafts. Connect Gmail or Outlook, with its calendar.

Your inbox is the connection that matters most. It's where Scout sees your deals, learns your voice, and puts its drafts.

## Connect

Tap **Connect** on the card Scout sends you, or open your [**Scout**](https://app.spara.co/scout) page in Spara and connect your inbox under **Accounts**. Sign in with the Google or Microsoft account you sell from. Your calendar connects with it.

## What Scout does with it

* **Reads your mail** to see where each deal stands, who's waiting on you, and what's gone quiet. Scout reads only your own mailbox.
* **Learns your voice** from the emails you've sent, so drafts sound like you.
* **Reads your calendar** to prep you before meetings and to see what's coming. It creates, moves or answers an event only after you confirm exactly what it will do.
* **Puts drafts in your Drafts folder**, with your signature, and replies in their thread. See [Drafts and approval](/scout/how-scout-works/drafts.md).
* **Turns on Inbox replies**, so a prospect's email gets a drafted answer. See [Inbox replies](/scout/how-scout-works/jobs/inbox-replies.md).

Scout never sends from your inbox. The **Send** button on a draft in Slack is your own click.

## Reconnecting

If Scout loses access to your inbox, it tells you. New drafts wait in Spara until you reconnect from your Scout page, and drafts that already reached your inbox stay there.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does Scout read everything in my inbox?

Scout reads your mailbox to do its work: to understand your deals, learn your voice, and draft replies in the right thread. What it reads stays yours. See [Privacy and data](/scout/trust/privacy-and-data.md).

### Can I switch from Gmail to Outlook?

Yes. Disconnect one on your Scout page and connect the other. Scout drafts into whichever inbox is connected.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.spara.com/scout/connections/gmail-and-outlook.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
