# Privacy and data

What Scout reads, what it never does, and how your data is protected.

Scout reads a lot to do its job: your inbox, your calendar, your CRM, your connected tools. Here's what that means, and what Scout never does with it.

## What Scout reads

* **Your own accounts, as you.** Scout reads your mailbox with your login, your CRM under your permissions, your LinkedIn from your account. It can't see what you can't.
* **Your team's shared connections**, such as a HubSpot or a signals tool connected once for everyone, where your team has set them up.
* **Spara's inbound conversations**, when your company uses Spara's agents on its website: what a buyer asked, what they watched, who at the account engaged.

Each rep has their own Scout. What yours learns about you, your accounts and your preferences stays with your Scout.

## What Scout never does

* **It never sends an email.** Every email is a draft in your inbox. The Send button in Slack is your own click, from your own mailbox.
* **It never messages on LinkedIn, changes your calendar or updates your CRM without your yes** in the conversation.
* **It never texts a prospect.** Scout's phone number is for talking to you.
* **It never guesses in a draft.** A fact Scout can't tie to a record you've connected stays out of the email.

## How your data is protected

* **SOC 2 Type II.** Spara's security controls are independently audited.
* **GDPR.** Spara supports GDPR requirements.
* **No training on your data.** Spara has zero-data-retention agreements with its AI model providers, so nothing of yours is kept to train models.

The detail is in Spara's [trust center](https://app.vanta.com/spara/trust/4kaeqmrw0tvtd35pbucd5) and [privacy policy](https://www.spara.com/files/privacy-policy.pdf).

## Disconnecting

Disconnect any tool from your [**Scout**](https://app.spara.co/scout) page. Scout loses access from then on and tells you if it needs it back.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.spara.com/scout/trust/privacy-and-data.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
